Mr. Del Olmo is a co-founder and Chief Operating Officer for Meridian, a position in which he has overall responsibility for design, construction, operation and management of capital projects that implement the company's vision and strategy.
Javier brings Meridian more than 25 years of engineering, business development and commercial experience serving public and private energy industry companies that are developing and operating pipelines, terminals and waterfront infrastructure projects in North America and Latin America.
Prior to co-founding Meridian, Javier served Enbridge as Vice President (U.S. Gulf Coast Terminals), working for the company’s U.S. Gulf Coast Terminal Operations division.
Prior to Enbridge, Javier served Moda Midstream as Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer, co-founder and board member, where he was instrumental in the development and operation of the Moda Ingleside Energy Center, which ranks as the largest U.S. crude oil storage and export terminal by volume. The Moda Ingleside Energy Center was acquired by Enbridge in 2021.
Before the formation of Moda, Javier served as Vice President of Engineering for Oiltanking North America (OTNA). Previously, he served as General Manager of Engineering for OTNA, Business Development Manager of OTNA, Trading Business Development Manager in Latin America, Managing Director and member of the board of directors for Oiltanking Mexico (OT Mexico), and Commercial Director for OT Mexico.
While at OTNA, Javier was responsible for the design, construction and management of more than $1 billion in capital projects including pipelines, greenfield and brownfield terminal expansions, and waterfront developments. He built and led a high-performance engineering team and led business development and due diligence efforts for the acquisition of multiple assets. Prior to OTNA he developed a portfolio of projects in Mexico, established the company’s trading presence in Latin America’s Pacific region and managed operations for liquid and dry bulk terminals throughout Latin America.
Javier earned a Bachelor of Science degree in mechanical engineering from Universidad Simon Bolivar in Caracas, Venezuela.
